Humane Society of the United States National Conference Featured SaveABunny As A Speaker!
Award winning rescue efforts and persistence garnered SaveABunny the groundbreaking invitation to speak about rabbit rescue, care and adoptions at the largest animal care conference in the world. The Humane Society of the United States Expo in Las Vegas is the largest animal care conference in the world with several thousand national and international attendees.
SaveABunny Founder, Marcy Schaaf, Megan Webb, new appointed Executive Director of Oakland Animal Services, and small animal expert, Suzanne Gollin from Marin Humane Society's Behavior jointly presented the successes and challenges of caring for and adopting rabbits in their shelters, as well as how to best work in partnership with rescue groups to save more lives.
This workshop on rabbits was very well received and believed to be the first of its kind at such a large, national venue. This collaborative effort between a rescue group and multiple shelters is both progressive and very unusual in the animal welfare field.

Here is SaveABunny's booth at the conference. There was so much interest from participants to learn more about rabbits that at times we had a line at our booth!
In addition to SaveABunny's extensive educational efforts on rabbit care and adoptions, we also sold merchandise and handmade jewelry to help raise funds for our rescue efforts.
Lastly, one of the most popular features at our booth AND the conference was our giant carrot! Who knew?!
Our 4 foot tall paper mache carrot donated by SaveABunny volunteer, Robyn Price, elicited both requests for photo ops and a wide variety of humorous comments---some of which we can't print in a family venue!
SaveABunny's volunteer extraordinaire is show below at the booth.
