September 11, 2011 URGENT REQUEST FOR HELP!

These pictures are graphic, but please don't look away! This little girl needs you to care about her! She just had expensive emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries and donations are very urgently needed.

On 9-11-11 SaveABunny received an emergency call from San Francisco Animal Care and Control regarding a gravely injured rabbit. She was malnourished, emaciated and her entire body was covered in sore, painful and life-threatening abscesses.

She was stray rabbit who had been trying to fend for herself in a dirty, dangerous area rife with drug users, spent needles and trash. Clearly, food and water was scarce and it looked like she had survived an attack by some sort of other animal.



Her abdomen was ripped open exposing raw layers of scabs and wounds. Her tiny shoulders and legs were covered in open injuries with pus and blood released with just the slightest of touch.

The shelter told us that this brave bunny girl was in very poor physical condition, but that her spirits were remarkably good and she was ravenously eating food.

Due to the extent of her injuries, the shelter thought euthanasia was the only option; but we knew this loving, gentle bunny girl wanted to give life one more try with people who would protect her and give her the care she needed. You can help give her that second chance!!!

She had emergency surgery and is now recovering well. Her surgery took close to 2 hours to complete, since she had such an extensive web of abscesses that criss-crossed her body.

She is such a survivor and a fighter! It really brings tears to your eyes to look in her eyes and see her make that connection that shows she is willing to trust again and is just so incredibly grateful for all the help she is getting.
