Thinking about adopting a rabbit? Looking for a great place to volunteer and help rabbits?

Join us as we partner with San Francisco Animal Care and Control and San Francisco SPCA to share the "secret" that rabbits are wonderful, indoor companions who can be litterbox trained like cat, and are as smart and loving as dogs and cats.

You'll meet friendly bunnies available for adoption, and learn scintillating tips on good rabbit care and proper handling. Did you know that rabbits "purr" by gently grinding their teeth? Or that rabbits are herbivores, and eat no animal products?
How about spay and neuter? Is that important for rabbits, just like cats and dogs? You bethcha!

See for yourself how entertaining and opinionated rabbits can be. For many people, rabbits are the perfect indoor companions. Plus, they can live happily with other animals, like cats and dogs.

We have complimentary HRS literature on bunny care and we are more than happy to answer any questions or help you. If you have any questions, or if you are interested in volunteering at these events, please contact Joann Binder at 415-244-9843 or saveabunny-questions@earthlink.net, or the Chapter Manager via this website.

See you soon!

Description:

Nine rabbits were surrendered to San Francisco Animal Care and Control(SFACC) on Tuesday, March 6 doubling the number of rabbits allowed at that shelter. New rabbits included a special needs rabbit and a mom and dad bunny and their litter of 6 three month old babies.

The shelter has notified us that we have 48
hours to move out 9 rabbits, preferably 10, or they will euthanize existing rabbits who have been there the longest.

The total number of rabbits the shelter will keep at any time is only 10. The shelter has dramatically changed their policies for 2007, because they feel that increasing numbers of rabbits are being dumped at the shelter, because the public incorrectly assumes that SFACC does not euthanize rabbits.

SaveABunny has worked very closely with SFACC for 6 years and during this time we have significantly lowered the euthanasia rates from nearly 90% to less than 10%.

However, at this point, the reality is that with the increasing number of rabbits being dumped at SFACC there currently aren't enough safe, loving homes or foster homes for these rabbits.

We are seeking immediate assistance with foster homes and need a minimum commitment of a month---preferably two months for foster homes. Foster homes must be indoors with several hours a day run/ exercise time.

Adopters are also needed and so if you are looking to adopt or find a friend for your rabbit, we need you now!

Please contact us immediately at 415-388-2790 or via email to saveabunny@aol.com if you can help.

Fostering Program

Fostering a rabbit(s) is a hands-on, beneficial and touching way to help save more rabbit lives. There are always more rabbits needing rescue than safe places for them to go.
