Crystal was adopted today by a nice family that are going to let her run free in the house and have a yard for her to dig in (supervised, of course)! Hooray for Crystal and her new family!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you love giant rabbits? Then Crystal is your girl! She weighs in at over 11 pounds, and she is gorgeous!

Crystal is back at the shelter after her family was forced to move into an apartment that did not allow pets. She is looking for a forever home this time! Her adopter said she was such a wonderful rabbit who loves to play, be petted, and eat all different kinds of greens. She knows her name and perks up when she hears you say it!

Here at the Oakland Animal Shelter we have four state of the art rabbit runs, complete with toys, a garden with a bunny's favorite greens (mint, lettuce, carrots, dandelion, kale and mustard greens), and cool bunny tubes that are a blast to run through. We take the bunnies outside every day to play in our volunteer supervised rabbit play area, aka "The Courtyard."

Crystal gets let out, and instead of running in the tubes, munching on the greens, or playing with the toys, all she wants to do is dig, dig, dig. She loves it! Hilariously, she is a pristine white bunny, so her penchant for getting dirty makes it quite the combination. After playtime, she cleans herself right up, and you would never know how dirty she was! Crystal has created an extensive network of burrows that make all of the other rabbits jealous, and there is no end in sight to her natural talent of making excellent dirt sculpture. Perhaps you are a lover of land artist Andy Goldsworthy? Then this is the rabbit for you!

The shelter will only adopt rabbits to indoor homes, but Crystal would be ideal living in a home that has access to a bunny-proofed backyard with some diggable dirt for supervised outdoor playtime.

Crystal is waiting for you at the Oakland Animal Shelter, so no need to email or anything if you want to meet her, just come on down and visit! You can find directions and hours on our website.
