Barrymore has just found a wonderful forever home. His new mom says she's going to re-name him "Barry White" because he's such a lover!
---------------------------------------
Barrymore is one very lucky bunny. Above is his "after" picture- 3 months after he came to SaveABunny.

He was one of 29 rabbits surrendered by one person to the San Francisco Animal Care and Control (SFACC)on February 27, 2008. The rabbits had been severely neglected and had turned on one another as food and safety was scarce. This is what Barrymore looked like when I first met him at the shelter. As hard as it may be to read his story or look at the pictures, Barrymore's experience is important to tell, so that other rabbits may hopefully be spared what he went through.

SaveABunny and SFACC quickly triaged the rabbits and began intensive care for those in need. However three rabbits soon died from their injuries. Barrymore managed to survive, but was left with his nose in tatters and painful, infected wounds that ran the entire length of his body.

Barrymore came to SaveABunny and received sub-Q fluids, antibiotics, and the best of traditional veterinary care and alternative healing, such as Reiki, shamanism and TTouch. For many weeks he required warm soaks twice per day and abscess wound cleansing.
We would gently soak Barrymore then cradle him in a plush towel to dry. Afterwards he would be rewarded with a small piece of banana or a carrot for his patience and bravery.

Despite Barrymore's trauma he welcomed a kind and loving touch and he taught many of our volunteers how remarkably resilient, forgiving these sensitive souls can be when treated with respect and care.

It is three months and three surgeries later (note Barrymore's sleek new nose!) and Barrymore's physical wounds are almost gone. he looks fabulous with his bright white fur and dark blue eyes that now radiate hope, not fear.

Barrymore is finally ready to be adopted to a home of his home to people who will adore him and keep him happy and safe.

Donations to cover his extensive veterinary care are urgently needed and greatly appreciated. This bunny truly wanted to love and now he has a chance at a fresh new start.
